Innovative stormwater management practices including rain gardens, permeable paving, subsurface infiltration, and rainwater harvesting on and surrounding Capitol Square, Virginia's historic capitol grounds. A partnership with the State of Virginia (DCR & DGS), the City of Richmond, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and Civil and Environmental Services. Along with the reduction of runoff through sustainable landscape practices, public education is an important component as well. The project is serving as one of 150 projects around the world paticipating the Sustainable Sites Initiative two year pilot project program. Awards:
